SPECTROLINE

An innovative system that adds fluorescent dye to various oils and water, then uses UV lamps to pinpoint leak locations.

SPECTROLINE UV Fluorescence Leak Detection

UV Fluorescence Leak Detection System

SPECTROLINE is a UV fluorescence leak detection system developed by Spectronics Corporation, founded in the United States in 1955. By adding fluorescent dye to various oils and water-based fluids, including hydraulic oil, and illuminating with ultraviolet (UV) lamps, leak locations are pinpointed with precision. The fluorescent dye is injected at a ratio of 0.1-0.8% relative to the carrier fluid and circulated through the system for 5 minutes or more. Fluid seeping from leak points fluoresces vividly under UV lamp illumination, allowing even micro-leaks to be accurately detected visually. The fluorescent dyes are NSF certified and can be safely used in food manufacturing environments.

Product Lineup

Introducing the main SPECTROLINE product lineup.

OIL-GLO 50-P Oil Fluorescent Dye

OIL-GLO 50-P

Fluorescent dye for oil-based fluids. Compatible with hydraulic oil, engine oil, spindle oil, etc. Recommended dosage: 0.1-0.8%.

SPECTROLINE UV Detection Lamp

UV Detection Lamp

High-intensity UV LED/fluorescent lamp type. Clearly illuminates fluorescent dye even in dark areas, making micro-leaks visible.

SPECTROLINE Detection Glasses

Detection Glasses

Specialized glasses that enhance UV fluorescence visibility. Protects eyes during extended work sessions.

Applications

Hydraulic Equipment Oil Leak Inspection

Detect micro-leaks in hydraulic systems of machine tools and industrial machinery with high precision. Even seepage-level leaks that are difficult to spot visually are clearly identified through fluorescence, contributing to reduced downtime through early repair.

Pre-Shipment Quality Inspection

Used for quality inspection of heavy machinery, construction equipment, pumps, and piping components. By circulating fluorescent dye and inspecting with UV lamps before shipment, even minute leaks are caught to ensure product quality.

HVAC Refrigerant Leak Detection

Pinpoint leak detection in refrigerant piping. By adding fluorescent dye to the refrigerant and circulating it, leak locations can be accurately identified even in complex piping routes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the fluorescent dye harm the system?

OIL-GLO Ultra fluorescent dye is NSF certified and complies with food-grade processing requirements. It can remain in the system without issues. Its ultra-concentrated formula requires only a small amount (0.05-0.8%), so it does not affect fluid performance.

What types of fluids are supported?

Compatible with oil-based fluids such as hydraulic oil, engine oil, spindle oil, gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, as well as water-based fluids such as coolant and water glycol. Fluorescent dyes for oil-based and water-based fluids are available to match your application.

Can inspections be performed without shutting down equipment?

Yes. SPECTROLINE is a non-destructive, non-stop inspection method. Simply add the fluorescent dye to the circulation system, circulate for 30 minutes or more, then illuminate with a UV lamp. Leak locations can be identified in real time while equipment is running.
